8. Application Period
From: 13:00 JST, October 1, 2025
To: 13:00 JST, October 31, 2025
*Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances. However, the following two items may be submitted, provided they are received by the date which is to be specified separately:
・(5) Copy of the acceptance letter from the prospective Japanese institution
・(6) Copy of the submitted admission application form or the examination ticket for the
intended university/graduate school.
- Selections
・The District Selection Committee will review the application documents. They may conduct web-based interview with applicant, or interviews with applicants and their academic supervisors via telephone or email. Incomplete application documents will not be considered valid for the selection.
・If a candidate fails to enter the intended university, or if the appropriate enrollment procedures are not taken, the applicant loses eligibility for application.
・If a successful candidate (or a tentatively successful candidate) declines to receive the scholarship, another candidate on a waiting list may become entitled to receive the scholarship. The Secretariat will inform applicants who are accepted from the waitlist by the following date.
April Enrollment: By the end of April 2026
September Enrollment: By the end of September 2026
October Enrollment: By the end of October 2026
- Selection Results
To Be Notified by the Middle of March 2026
Selection results will be notified to the applicants by email, and a certificate of acceptance will be issued to the successful applicants by the end of March 2026. Inquiries on the results will not be responded.
*Even if applicants pass the selection process, they will only be granted conditional approval
until all of the following requirements are met:
・Submit a “copy of the acceptance letter from the prospective Japanese institution” by the specified date.
・Arrive in Japan by the specified date.
・Submit a copy of scholar’s Residence Card to the Secretariat within one week of arrival in Japan. The residence status must be “Student
